Cats 10 years or older are considered seniors. It is not unusual for a 15 or 16 year old cat to be very healthy and energetic.
Senior patients should have yearly bloodwork to assess their vital functions. This is particularly important given their stoic nature that can mask ill health.
A complete exam will involve dental evaluation, cardiac evaluation, examination for skin growths and ear infections, visual evaluation and examination for older age arthritis.
Yearly vaccinations are given as long as the cat has a risk profile determined by the owners consultation with the veterinarian.
